F.A.Q.s
Q
Can any screen be corrected?
A
Yes. The basic requirement is that either the LED screen controller needs to support the application of pixel-level correction coefficients, or the content being displayed needs to be accessible to VisionLINK™. Many screens meet these requirements in their current configuration. For those that do not, Radiant Imaging experts can help design an approach that works.
Q
Will correction cause my screen to be dimmer or darker?
A
It depends. When implemented using VisionLINK™, correction is applied dynamically and the screen will not lose any brightness—it may even be brighter after correction! When implemented in the LED screen using internal electronics results vary, but the correction coefficients can be adjusted to minimize any fall-off in brightness.
Q
How long does it take to do a screen correction?
A
Any LED screen can be corrected in a few hours at most once the measurement equipment is set up. For a stadium or billboard correction this means within a single night, and for a warehouse correction for rental screen tiles this means within a few hours.
Q
How dark does it need to be to perform screen correction?
A
Outdoor LED screen installations should be corrected at night. Indoor corrections can be done in a dimly lit room. The most important factor is that the ambient brightness does not affect the measurement of the LEDs in the screen.
Q
Can my screen be corrected even if there are bright lights around?
A
Yes. But any lights should not shine directly on the screen and should be at least a meter away from the screen.
Q
Does using a VisionLINK™ processor change my screen or the video electronics?
A
No. The VisionLINK™ processor does not change the screen or video electronics. It does nothing more than pre-process the video signal to compensate for screen non-uniformity.
Q
Will replacing a tile in a corrected screen ruin the correction?
A
No, not if proper planning is done. It is important to have a stock of corrected spare tiles for each screen. (This is something that would be done when correcting the screen itself.) The spare tiles can be installed and then matched to the rest of the screen by your on-site staff using VisionMATCH™.
Q
How often should I correct my screen?
A
Typically every 1 to 3 years. The exact amount of time between corrections will depend on screen usage, electronics, and how good you want it to look.
